Alumnus elected Early Career Fellow of Ecological Society of America

Professor Daniel Stouffer, currently a Senior Lecturer at the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Canterbury (NZ), was one of nine new Early Career Fellows elected by the Ecological Society of America (ESA). ESA designates as Early Career Fellows of the Society certain early career members (typically chosen within 8 years of receiving the Ph.D.) who have begun making and show promise of continuing to make outstanding contributions to a wide range of fields served by ESA. Such contributions include, but are not restricted to, those that advance or apply ecological knowledge in academics, government, non-profit organizations, and the private sector. Early Career Fellows are elected for 5 years.

Daniel’s research aims to develop a general understanding of the evolution of ecological networks. In particular, he aims to determine the manner in which species’ interactions determine the persistence and viability of high diversity ecosystems.
